Healing Yoga Massage:
Yoga massage is practiced in a meditative state. It is considered an act of healing, love, compassion and kindness to sick, suffering and dying. Basic massage techniques while lying on back in a resting yoga corpse pose. Before starting, ask if the receiver has any illness, sore muscles, ligaments or recent operations. In the following therapeutic massage descriptions the therapist must have a walker to balance and control the weight-bearing affect specially when walking on the back feet, legs, thighs, and spine.
1. Palm Press: Have the receiver lie down on the soft firm mat face up. Kneel behind his or her feet facing the head. Rub palms together to collect and center your energy before start. Palm press on the inner sides of the feet. Rock side to side, palm pressing up and down. Lean on both feet at the same time as you rock forward and back. Use your body weight through your arms. Keep most of your weight downward facing dog on the heels of your hands. Bring your hands back to the starting point and repeat 3 times.
2. Twist Foot: This technique mobilizes the ankle joint and stretches the achilles tendon and the calf muscles, hold the balls and toes of both feet and flex the feet backward as far as possible. Relax the pressure and repeat two more times.
3. Soles of the Foot: Place your left knee on the left sole of the recipients foot. Place your thumbs just above the heels on the middle of the calves, and with straight arms, lean into the points. Use your thighs to support your elbows.
